Music Background

I was in band for five years but eventually quit because I was behind compared to the other flutes and I wanted to use my free time for a job instead. I have always loved music but I became infatuated with it after I discovered the other side of it and created my own. It started with me using GarageBand as a tween, and, these days,BandLab.As many of my close friends have had the displeasure of hearing me say a million times, I believe that music is the closest thing I have to time travel. Hearing must be my most valuable sense because, for someone who is forgetting her past in alarming amounts, music is the only remedy for when my history is metaphysically slipping away. If I want to recall what car window views I saw one summer afternoon on a family trip, I just have to put on Fleetwood Mac. If I wish to reimagine the outfit I wore on my sister's birthday, I play "9 to 5", since I nailed a job interview right before her party and played it endlessly to annoy her despite the day it was. If I wanted to, heaven help me, relive that one night I hung out with my first love, I turn on Bruno Mars and hug myself and turn it off when I catch myself. I keep diaries, loads of them, one of them an unintentional diary as I write about my day in Norwegian to learn quicker, but nothing beats music when rekindling the memories that built me.
